Plagiarism policy
The journal places the utmost importance on academic and ethical integrity and considers plagiarism of any kind unacceptable behavior that contradicts the principles of scientific research. The journal is committed to a thorough examination of all submitted research to detect any instances of plagiarism and takes strict action to address such cases.
Definition of Plagiarism:
Plagiarism is defined as presenting someone else's work, ideas, or words as your own without crediting the original source. This includes:
Verbatim copying: Copying a substantial portion of someone else's text without quotation marks and citing the source.
Incorrect paraphrasing: Rewriting someone else's text with minor changes to the wording or order of words without crediting the original source.
Using someone else's ideas, data, graphs, or tables without crediting the source.
Self-plagiarism: Republishing previously published work by the same author without crediting the original work, except in specific and justified cases (such as expanding on a previous study with a reference).
Plagiarism Detection Using Turnitin:
To ensure the highest levels of academic integrity and detect any potential cases of plagiarism, Ejthad for Scientific Research uses Turnitin. Turnitin is a leading tool for detecting similarity in texts. It compares submitted texts against a broad database that includes online content, published academic works, and previously submitted research. The Turnitin similarity reports are used to assist the editorial board and reviewers in assessing the originality of submitted research. However, it should be noted that the similarity report is not a definitive ruling on plagiarism; rather, it is an indicator that helps identify sections that require careful examination to ensure proper documentation and citation.
Maximum Permitted Citations:
The journal is committed to a total citation percentage of less than 30% in the submitted research. All citations within this percentage must be properly and clearly documented according to the approved documentation system.
Handling Plagiarism:
If plagiarism is detected in a manuscript submitted for publication, the journal will take the following actions:
Immediate Rejection: The manuscript is immediately rejected without being submitted for peer review.
Notification to the Author(s): The author(s) will be informed of the reason for the rejection, along with evidence of the plagiarism and Turnitin reports.
Notification to the Author's Institution (in serious cases): In cases of blatant or repeated plagiarism, the journal may notify the author's academic institution or employer.
Ban on Future Publication: Author(s) involved in plagiarism may be banned from submitting further manuscripts for publication in the journal for a specified period.
Retraction of the Published Article (if plagiarism is detected after publication): If plagiarism is detected after publication, the journal will withdraw the article from its website and all databases in which it is indexed. A notice explaining the reason for the retraction will be published.
Authors' Responsibility:
Authors bear full responsibility for ensuring the originality of their work, adhering to scientific research ethics, and properly documenting all sources. Authors must carefully review their research before submitting it to ensure it is free of any form of plagiarism.
Ejthad for Scientific Research emphasizes that adherence to scientific research ethics and academic integrity is the foundation of trust in scientific publications, and it will not compromise on implementing this policy to maintain the quality and credibility of its research.
