Abstract

The study aims to identify the level of psychological stress among secondary school certificate students, and to examine the relationship between psychological stress and both academic specialization and gender. To achieve the study objectives, the descriptive correlational approach was adopted. The study sample consisted of (102) male and female students, including (59) males and (43) females from the secondary school certificate level in Tripoli, selected using stratified random sampling. To collect data, the researcher used the "Psychological Stress Scale for Adolescent Secondary School Students" developed by Kherbach and Toubal (2016). The results revealed that the level of psychological stress among the study sample was low. There were no statistically significant differences between genders (males/females) in the overall psychological stress scale or its sub-dimensions. Regarding the variable of academic specialization, the results showed no statistically significant differences in the psychological stress scale or its sub-dimensions based on academic specialization (scientific vs. literary).
